 When is the Annual Town and School Meeting?

By Vermont Law, Town Meeting is held on the first Tuesday in March.  The next Town/School Meeting is March 5, 2024

 When are property taxes due?

Property taxes are payable in three installments due on the third Friday of August, November, and February. 

Bills Are mailed only once a year in July. 

 How are my property taxes calculated?

Property taxes are based on the assessed value of your property and the town budget passed annually at Town Meeting.  Unless you have made changes to your property, the value of your property was established by the contracted appraisal firm during the 2014 Town-Wide Reappraisal.  If you believe your assessment is incorrect, contact the Lister’s Office.  The tax rate is set by the Treasurer’s Office based on the budget approved by voters at Town Meeting.


Vermont law says if you own the home you live in you shall file a homestead declaration each year, due date is April 15, to do so complete Vermont form HS-122

Homeowners with a household income of up to $134,800 may be eligible for a property tax credit and need to also file Vermont form HI-144.
